Galway Hospice allocated almost €100,000

Galway Hospice has been allocated almost €100,000 by the Government through the Dormant Accounts Fund, Fine Gael TD for Galway West Hildegarde Naughton has announced.The Fund is managed by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) and periodically disbursed to government departments. The allocation for Galway Hospice has been provided through the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.Deputy Naughton said that the hospice had been allocated the full amount of €97,568, for which it had applied under the scheme.

She said the money would be used to support the exceptional work of the Renmore-based charity.“Galway Hospice has touched the lives of so many families in Galway, who are aware of the incredible services it provides, and the special role that it plays at a most vulnerable time in people’s lives,” she said.

“This allocation is a token of recognition of that fact, and an investment that I know will be used to the very best effect in providing end-of-life care and other vital services from its base in Renmore.

“I thank Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty for recognising the importance of the hospice to Galway and the broader region, and for realising the positive difference that will be made by choosing it as one of the recipients of fund,” added the Galway West TD.

Galway Hospice is one of only three organisations to receive an allocation under the Dormant Accounts Fund through the department on this occasion.
